What was your color palette? Why did you choose those colors?
Our wedding colors were black and white. Our bridesmaids and groomsmen wore black (and some guests) and my husband and I both wore white. All of our decorations and flowers were black and white as well.
What was the inspiration for the look and feel of your wedding?
Gavin and I have always gone with a black and white theme for everything. Most of our home furniture and decorations are black and white so we decided to stick with it for the wedding as well. It’s easy to match other things with black and white too.
Why did you choose to host your wedding at Celebrations on the River?
We looked around for a venue that had everything included so on the day of our wedding all we had to do was show up and not have to worry about the decorations, food, etc. We found that Celebrations on the River was the best option, and we were very thankful to have the wedding planners that made every step of the way easy and fun.
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
My favorite moment of our wedding day was the ceremony. It was such a beautiful spot and the decorations were perfect. We have the perfect amount of space, a nice view, speakers outside, and plenty of room for our family and friends to be there with us.
Would you change anything if you could do it all over again?
We would not change anything.
What was one thing you obsessed over, but realized it did not matter?
We had a hard time picking some of the decorations because there was such a large variety of options to choose from, but it was such a busy day I hardly even noticed a lot of the little things.
What advice do you have for future couples planning their weddings?
Pick a wedding venue that has a team of experienced staff there to help you on the day of your wedding (and to help plan). It’s so less stressful when there are people there to set up and do things for you so you can focus on the stuff that really matters.
How did you manage your guest count?
We made a list of everyone that we invited and did emailed RSVPs so all of them were together and no one had to worry about mailing them back. Every time we got an email we either highlighted or crossed out their names on the list and then after our RSVP due date, we could easily see who hasn’t responded and check our RSVP list when needed.
Who were your vendors? (DJ, Photographer, Flowers, Hair/Makeup, Dessert, etc.) How did you choose them?
Our photographer was my brother’s fiancé and our DJ was my husband’s childhood friend, so we got pretty lucky with that. Our dessert vendor was Bloedow’s bakery from our home town in Winona MN. They’re pretty famous and a lot of our family/friends are from Winona but no longer live there so a lot of people were excited to have their donuts again.
