Why did you host your wedding at Celebrations on the River? 

We actually booked the venue before touring – the Celebrations website told us everything we needed to know! They have everything as organized as you could possibly imagine, taking about 99% of the stress out of your wedding day. A large draw was not having to do all of the set-up and tear-down, so that was huge. We also had a rather short engagement (7 months), so a venue like Celebrations was able to make all of our wedding day visions come to life even with a shorter-than-usual timeline.

What was your color palette? Why did you choose those colors?

Navy blue & burgundy. I chose these colors because of my husband’s red hair & beard! He looks better in navy blue than black, so the color palette took off from there. Burgundy also happens to be one of my favorite colors.

What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?

My favorite moment was our first dance as a married couple. It felt like I was a princess at a ball!

Would you change anything if you could do it all over again?

Nope! Celebrations did everything perfectly.

What was one thing you obsessed over, but realized it did not matter? 

I obsessed over our guests RSVP’ing for months. However, in the end, it didn’t really matter because plans always change at the last minute.

What advice do you have for future couples planning their wedding?

Hire a wedding planner and have a coordinator for the day of. You will not want to be worrying about that stuff! Also, use Zola for tracking guests, RSVP’s, addresses, etc. It’s a game changer!

How did you manage your guest count? 

We made a list and then put it through several rounds of editing, paring down when needed or adding people we forgot. We also came up with a loose budget before starting the list so that we didn’t set ourselves up with unrealistic expectations from the start.

Who were your vendors? (DJ, Photographer, Hair/Makeup, Florist, Dessert, etc.) How did you choose them?

• Hair: Jenna McNamara (Family member)
• Makeup: Metropolitan Salon & Spa
• Florist: Monet Floral & Gifts
• Dessert: Nothing Bundt Cakes, Sam’s Club

We chose the DJ, makeup, and hair vendors based on the VIP list provided by Celebrations. This was a great choice! DJ Brettly was FANTASTIC, and the flowers from Monet were gorgeous. The photographer was from my hometown, so that was nice to have someone we knew be there on our special day. Everyone’s hair was done by a family member, since she’s a professional cosmetologist. Also was nice to have someone we know take care of that part of the day!
