What was your color palette? Why did you choose those colors?
Mauve and navy, we felt these colors were inviting and paired well together.
What was the inspiration for the look and feel of your wedding?
We wanted to have a simplistic yet elegant feel with warmth. We focused on the florals and color pallet of our wedding and had various details on the dessert table and within our ceremony, but overall we are a casual, yet classy couple and we wanted our day to reflect that!
Why did you choose to host your wedding at Celebrations on the River?
We picked Celebrations because of the guidance we were provided for vendors and the convenience of having the venue set up and torn down. With both families traveling from out of town, we wanted the weekend focused on each other and this helped ease the wedding weekend and freed up time to enjoy each other’s company at our rehearsal dinner and brunch the following day!
What was your favorite moment of your wedding day?
We enjoyed our ceremony at Newman Center and being able to speak with our guests during the reception while they enjoyed appetizers and happy hour.
Would you change anything if you could do it all over again?
Our day went so smoothly, one small thing would be to have clear communication with the bus driver in the coordination of pick-ups and drop-off requests.
What was one thing you obsessed over, but realized it did not matter?
I would say it didn’t matter what my bridal party got ready in! I had everyone wear black shirts with jeans and we took all of the pictures when they were in their dresses!
What advice do you have for future couples planning their weddings?
Book your vendors quickly and do a little each month, it goes in busy and slow seasons leading up to the day, enjoy the process, it goes by quickly!
How did you manage your guest count?
We used The Knot for our RSVPs and managed both side’s friend and family’s responses in Excel.
